Since its foundation in 2006, AIM. Ghana has received international volunteers from Germany. The volunteers assist the organisation in its daily activities and work on projects together with the youth club. In 2008, our partner organisation AIM. Germany has been officially approved by the Federal Ministry of economic cooperation and development (BMZ) to send volunteers through the newly established BMZ program ‘weltwaerts’.
The ‘weltwaerts’ program supports young people who want to do their voluntary service abroad. Focus is set on the educational opportunities of this young people. It is believed that through a voluntary service abroad young people open their mind for global developmental issues. Coming back, these experiences of international volunteers can have a strong input towards the development of the home country itself. African Information Movement and its partners in voluntary services, therefore, work hand in hand to ensure quality in the preparation, during and after the voluntary service of young people.
In September 2009, African Information Movement received the UBUNTU – Silver Award with the following quotation:
"Innovation lies at the heart of this project – innovation in managing the volunteers, innovation in introducing new technologies, innovation in enabling the volunteers to create and implement their ideas. This project was awarded the Ubuntu Silver Award for enabling volunteers to support the youth clubs and other projects established in the village of Komenda, Ghana and for working towards closer participation between Germany and Ghana in the selection, preparation and hosting of the volunteers."
Additionally, AIM. sets its focus on “Quality Management in Voluntary Services
